The Data Normalization Tool Suite includes GIS-related products that have been developed to support the integration and utilization of disparate datasets for various levels of state, regional, and local governments. For example, the tools are ideal for merging multiple parcel datasets within a local Department of Transportation that may be responsible for a 10-county region; each county maintaining individual parcel data. Parcel Normalization
With a user-friendly interface, this program provides parcel layer customization that can be converted into either a personal Geodatabase or an Enterprise Geodatabase using ArcSDE. The user is able to select a county from a drop-down menu, navigate to the location of the county parcel layer and add it to the Map Display for review.
If necessary, the parcel layer can be joined with a separate tax roll database to access additional attribute information. The incoming county data is projected ‘on the fly’ into the standard projection used by the District. The user then scrolls through a series of drop-down menus to select the fields to be normalized. The final output layer is stripped of unwanted fields and provides the user with a customized map.
Land-Use/Zoning Normalization
This easy-to-use, custom ArcGIS extension uses ArcObjects and Visual Basic to allow the user to show particular land-use layers of information. This program provides the user with the ability to customize the layers that the user needs to identify and then export printable data to pdf files. The user selects a county from a drop-down menu, navigates to the location of the county land use layer and adds it to the Map Display for review. If necessary, a look up table with additional attribute information can be joined to the land use layer. The incoming county data is projected ‘on the fly’ into a standard projection selected by the user. Scrolling through a series of drop-down menus allows the user to select the fields that are to be normalized. The final output layer is stripped of unwanted fields and converted into either a personal Geodatabase or an Enterprise Geodatabase using ArcSDE.
Streets Normalization
Using ArcObjects and Visual Basic, this application allows the user to select and view incoming county data ‘on the fly’ into a standard projection. The user chooses parameters such as county and street and determines the layers of information to be viewed on the Map Display for review. If necessary, the street data can be joined to a separate look up table to access additional attribute information. The user can then scroll through a series of drop-down menus to select the fields that are to be normalized. The final output layer is stripped of unwanted fields and converted into either a personal Geodatabase or an Enterprise Geodatabase using ArcSDE.
