Transportation decisions are not made in a vacuum. Roads and transportation facilities impact people, communities and the distinct culture of an area.
Determining the impact of transportation decisions and projects has become more and more a concern of transportation agencies, counties and towns.
With DTS staff members' urban planning education and experience, we have assisted DOTs and municipalities on various community impact assessments and studies.
While some states refer to this process as Community Impact Assessment (CIA); others refer to it as Sociocultural Effects Evaluation (SCE). Wherever the project, DTS has the combined expertise in transportation planning, urban planning, and computer-based analysis to help clarify the factors in the decision-making process.
In addition, DTS staff teaches both CIA and SCE workshops around the country to help transportation decision-makers and planners more effectively understand the impacts of the transportation planning process.
